HEALTH AND MIGRATION: RIGHT TO HEALTH FOR ALL
After more than six years of excluding migrants from healthcare as a result of the PP’s Royal Decree Law 16/2012, the arrival of the PSOE in government represented an opportunity to reverse this legislation and return universal healthcare to Spain. And so it would prove with a new RDL approved in 2018 to replace the previous one. We celebrated the news with caution however, as the new law still has a number of gaps that can reuslt in exclusion. We continue working to amend the RDL and the health system in Spain to reinstate the right to healthcare for all persons, regardless of their administrative situation.
